Educational program: “Refrigerating Cryogen Equipment and Life-supporting Systems

About

Higher education in specialty “Refrigeration, cryogenic equipment and life-support systems”, Ph.D. (Engineering), Associate Professor of Department “Cryogenic Machinery named after Pyotr L. Kapitsa” of Moscow Polytechnic University.

In 2004 I received a diploma in specialty “Equipment and Physics for Low Temperatures”. My professional activity started at the Research Institute for Physic Chemistry, named after P. Ya. Karpov, with a position of a Junior Researcher, and there I met with the world of refrigerating and cryogenic equipment.

In 2007 I defended the thesis for the degree of a Ph.D., devoted to studies of natural refrigerating agents, and began a Teacher’s work at Department for refrigeration and cryogenic equipment.

In 2016 I became Head of the educational program “Refrigeration and cryogenic equipment and life-support systems”.

In my opinion, in the contemporary world, when choosing a profession, it is essential to be guided by the prospects for employment: one cannot remain sure that directions, prestigious today, will stay like that tomorrow. Nevertheless, there are activities that always keep their importance, and one of them is refrigerating equipment. The variety of areas, where the low-temperature equipment is in use, defines the scope for choosing a career path.

As Head of the educational program “Refrigerating Cryogen Equipment and Life-supporting Systems”, I make the main emphasis on training an expert in a wide range of issues of refrigerating and cryogenic machine-building: from spaceships on cryogenic fuel up to the cooling systems for food industry and air-conditioning.

To ensure that the students of the training direction “Refrigerating Cryogen Equipment and Life-supporting Systems” are most competitive at the labor market, we maintain permanent connections with the industry.

During the studies on this educational program, the students acquire competences of an engineer, capable of designing and operating low-temperature installations, modeling complicated heat exchange processes, optimizing the processes of obtaining and applying the artificial cold.
