Sergey A. Tipalin

Educational program: “Technological Engineering in the Processing of Materials by Pressure

About
Sergey Tipalin has higher education in the specialty “Machines and Technology for Processing of Metals by Pressure”, Ph.D. (Engineering), Professor of Department “Materials Processing by Pressure and Additive Technologies”.

Professor Tipalin has experience in designing and manufacturing at the plants “LiAZ” and “1-GPZ”. Worked as a project leader and a team member in 10 R&D works, the results of which have been introduced in production and are reflected in over 80 scientific works. Currently he works as Head of student projects at the University. The successful projects by students of Bachelor and Master degrees, that were defended under his guidance, have been recommended for introduction in production. The expert in the contest “Moscow Masters”, UMNIK, All-Russian contest of scientific-and-technical creative activity of young people.

The area of interests in science is exploration of the properties of materials, technology and equipment for processing of materials by pressure, modeling of the form-changing processes, the theory of solving inventor’s problems (TRIZ).

In mass production the speed of stamping amounts to 100-200 pieces per minute. And all the metal is transformed into manufactures practically without waste. The task for modern specialists is to apply these technologies to small-scale production. The experience of foreign countries shows that development of new equipment and technologies in the stamping is one of key factors of the economic development in the next 20 years. Development of domestic industry is restricted by acute shortage of professional personnel with computer modeling competences for work in today’s end-element packages, understanding the main principles of operation and the possibilities, offered by modern equipment, who would be capable of using parametric modules for designing of fixing for the stamping. A student, being trained on our direction, will gain all required competences not just for his work, but also for updating of the modern equipment.
